With its two companies, the ETIMEX Group offers specialised solutions in various sectors: ETIMEX PRIMARY PACKAGING GmbH develops and produces films and containers made of various plastics for applications in packaging solutions in the food and pharmaceutical industries as well as films for technical applications and the converting industry.
And ETIMEX TECHNICAL COMPONENTS GmbH is a supplier of customised blow-moulded and injection-moulded parts and assemblies. We have been supplying leading automotive and household appliance manufacturers with technically sophisticated, seamless blow-moulded 3D parts and plastic assemblies for over 30 years.
History of the ETIMEX Group
The Europa Textil More information in theport and Export short ETIMEX was founded in 1950, with headquarters in Stuttgart and a plant in Dietenheim, was founded. The services concern the export trade business.
In 1956 the company first starts to process plastics and manufactures films and bags made from polyethylene (PE). Over time, highly transparent polypropylene (PP) films are added to the range. The film is manufactured using the cast film process.
As of 1975 , German BP takes over the shares of ETIMEX.
In 1981 the company starts extruding polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films and producing C-PET trays from them using the thermoforming process. The company continues to develop EVA solar films. This extremely successful product is spun off in 2004 and transferred to an independent limited company, ETIMEX Solar GmbH divison.
Another milestone is reached in 1986 and 1987 when ETIMEX produces films with an EVOH barrier for convenience products.
In the years 1988 and 1989 the extrusion process for polypropylene (PP) thermoforming sheet is revolutionised. This special manufacturing process is further refined and allows in 1995 the production of PP thermoforming sheets under cleanroom conditions for the pharmaceutical and medical industry.
Since 1995 has brought single-material packaging solutions and peelable PP films to the market.
BP Chemicals PlasTec GmbH sells all its plastics processing plants in Germany. Together with Barclays Private Equity, a management buy-out of 3 plants succeeds. ETIMEX is newly created. The acquisition of further plants within the group is successful.
2006 : A change follows in 2006 and Alpha Beteiligungsberatung GmbH & Co KG becomes the new main shareholder.
In 2011 the company sells its successful solar division. The management takes over the ETIMEX Group under a holding company. ETIMEX Primary Packaging GmbH also begins injection moulding production of trays, cups and lids.
Ongoing investments are being made in the expansion of thermoforming capacities for lidding films, APET, CPET and barrier trays.
In 2019 the PP barrier sealing films are launched on the market.
